An Australian view on the Nürburgring Nordschleife

Porsche’s Nordschleife engine simulator

June 30th, 2008 Posted in Manufacturer testing, Porsche

This is very cool! Porsche have collected data from countless hours of Nürburgring Nordschleife testing to produce the virtual engine simulator. The telemetry gathered enables the simulator to not only recreate the acceleration and engine braking from a lap at the Ring, but also the G-forces as well. This machine was used in the development of the new dry sump engines in the recently launched 2009 911 range.

That has to be one of the greatest things I have seen for a long time!! Would love to see a full lap.

One of the big issues with in car footage, etc is explaining to people the g-forces that cannot be translated visually.
This goes a massive way to doing so.
