A lap of the Nordschleife in JD Engineering’s Golf V GTI
February 4th, 2009 Posted in Video, VolkswagenHere’s an interesting lap from Netherlands based company JD Engineering. Filmed in October 2007 it shows their 376hp (280kW) Mk5 Golf GTI completing a bridge to gantry time of around 8 minutes 18 seconds. The footage itself is not so great, the camera mount has too much movement, but any sub 8:30 time is worth a look. It’s quite remarkable how uneventful the lap is. Cracking time, too.
To give some context to this lap time, a Mk5 Golf GTI in the hands of Australia’s Warren Luff managed a bridge to gantry time of 8 minutes 46 seconds (as reported in Motor magazine, February 2006).
