Fault is 100% with the Clio driver

Its not established why the 911 stopped but he crossed the finish line before the 24hrs was up anyway so stopping shortly afterwards would still have left him unclassified as he needed the extra lap.

It was an odd and unfortunate situation for all parties

While Robbo has a point, this is also an insight into the effects of fatigue and split concentration at the end of such a long race. That renault had a vast amount of time to see the P-car in front of him, but failed to. Where was he looking?

It is also understandable that the Porsche driver would not have thought to put on his hazards while thinking about fuel & strategy etc.

Fatigue like that can hinder even the most simple of tasks....

Tend to agree Robbo. Regardless of the reasons and/or blame, it's just heartbreaking to see two cars fail to finish like that so close to the end. I can't begin to imagine how the two teams involved are feeling.

If the manthey porsche was truly out of fuel he should have had his hazard lights on and pulled onto the grass on the edge of the track. Why on earth did they think they could park on the racing line? You can also point the finger at the clio, but I think after 24 hours and coming to the finish line they would have been concentrating on whether they were finishing or had to do another lap. The driver was probably on the radio or looking for pit board etc. IMHO trhe blame in this incident is purely on the porsche who should have pulled off the tarmac onto the the grass
