2008 Nürburgring 24 hour – race updates

Nurburgring 24 hour raceIf you missed all the action, or even just some of the action, from this year’s Nürburgring 24 hour race, fear not. 1500-1600 update (race start)
During the first hour of racing it was the favourites in the battle for overall victory who were hardest hit by early setbacks.


1600-1800 update
The Wochenspiegel-Porsche was forced into the pits following an accident and tumbled down the order, leaving the HISAQ squad in car number 22 to assume the race lead.

1800-2000 update
The #1 Manthey Racing Porsche broke into the top ten, and last year’s winners are racking up some sensational lap times, as much as 20 seconds per lap quicker than its competitors.

2000-2200 update
The start of the 42nd lap (21.30 hrs) brought with it a head-to-head battle for the lead.

2200-2400 update
“There were yellow flags or accidents all over the circuit. You had to constantly take care not to overtake under yellow.”

0000-0800 update
The bouts of dramatic wheel-to-wheel racing at the head of the field continued unabated, sending the main protagonists through a rollercoaster of emotions.

0800-1000 update
“We’re not taking any risks now and are not pushing quite as hard. After all, our aim is to win the race. We just have to see how things are going hour-by-hour now.”
