Nürburgring could lose Grand Prix rights
The current status of the Nürburgring hosting alternate German Grands Prix could be under threat, with a final decision to be made in the first week of October, autosport.com reports. The Nürburgring race is organised by Deutscher Motor Sport Bund, under the guidance of German motoring giant ADAC. The possible fallout is a result of ADAC’s unwillingness to work with the FIA in light of the Max Mosely fiasco.
The autosport report states, “the FIA’s sporting authority in Germany is to be discussed at an extraordinary general meeting of the FIA in Paris in October, in the wake of ADAC’s decision to withdraw from all involvement with the governing body earlier this year.
“A letter from Pierre de Coninck, Secretary General of the FIA (Sport) to members of the WMSC on Friday confirmed that ‘the sporting power in Germany’ was up for discussion in the meeting.”
