Sport Auto takes the Focus RS around Nordschleife
Respected German magazine Sport Auto has sent its chief editor, Horst von Saurma, out on the Nordschleife in a Ford Focus RS. Here is the video. So, how does Horst go in the 300bhp front-wheel drive hot hatch? And could he beat the Renault Mégane R26.R‘s Nürburgring record for the fastest FWD lap?
The answer to the second question is no, however he was just 10 seconds behind the R26.R setting a time in the Focus RS of 8 minutes 26 seconds. I assume the car is standard, although, judging by the sound audible from the tyres during this clip, it does seem as though semi-slicks were fitted to the Ford.
The clip itself is quite good too, with a mix of angles from inside and outside the car. Horst even gives some commentary during the lap. Which is great, if you speak German.
Once you have finished watching the footage above, you can enjoy the alternate cut after the jump.
