Has the BMW Ring-Taxi has delivered its last fare?
The BMW Ring-Taxi is one of the icons of the Nürburgring. It has helped launch Sabine Schmitz into the media spotlight, as well as delivering thousands of kilometers of happiness to its customers. And now it looks like the ride is over.
BMW contracted out the management of the Ring-Taxi to a company called OK Speed Marketing, who also own the rights to the “Ring-Taxi” name. In their latest offer of services for 2011 OK Speed Marketing makes no reference to the BMW service, only offering rides in a Porsche 911 and MINI John Cooper Works. It’s understood these hot laps will run during VLN practice sessions and not during public open days.
More info as it comes to hand. In the meantime there’s some more Ring-Taxi pics after the break and a couple of videos as well.
