An Australian view on the Nürburgring Nordschleife

VLN race 14 May: Porsche v Renault

May 16th, 2011 Posted in Motorsports, Porsche, Renault

There was a six-hour VLN race at the Ring over the weekend, eventually won by the Farnbacher Ferrari. Here’s some footage showing the exit to Pflantzgarten I. All looks good, the lead cars are carrying some great speed through the turn. Off-camera a Porsche and Renault collide and we see the aftermath, luckily avoided by an Audi close behind.

Fortunately both drivers soon emerge from their cars and seem to be okay, although sure to have a few aches and pains.

    Hi All!

Keep watching this clip after the Renault returns to earth and the dust settles… there’s an equally scary “push pass” at 2:50.

Amazing too just looking at the calibre of cars in the VLN races now (albeit many testing for the 24H).

    Speed Safely!

Yes the quality of the field has grown over the last 5 years & the new “driver” rule is right.
At least I have introduced many Australians to the “Ring” that helps
