2012 N24h: “Ferrari” P4/5 Competizione on fire

Ferrari P4/5 Competizione fire

During the 2012 Nürburgring 24 hour race the “Ferrari” P4/5 Competizione claimed to have set a world record lap for a Ferrari powered vehicle around the Nordschleife. The time given is a mighty impressive 6 minutes 51 seconds. That makes it seven seconds faster than the Ferrari 599XX.

But that wasn’t the only drama to come for James Glickenhaus’ plaything with a fire in pit lane suffered soon after the record lap. Thankfully, this image makes the fire look worse than it was. Flames erupted after a refuelling mishap and were quickly extinguished by the team’s pit crew.

The P4/5 Competizione went on to finish the 24 hour race in a highly commendable 12th place overall.
