Ingolf Deubel sentenced to jail
Ingolf Deubel, one of the men inextricably linked to the collapse of Nürburgring GmbH, was handed a three-and-a-half-year jail term by the Koblenz county court yesterday.
Previously a finance minister for the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, Deubel was convicted on 14 counts by Judge Winfried Hetger. Deubel was found to have deliberately misled parliament after he sanctioned the transfer of taxpayer funds to Nürburgring GmbH while saying the money had been sourced from private backers.
Walter Kafitz, former CEO of the Nürburgring, was also given a suspended sentence of 19 months.
