Gemballa Racing has confirmed Nick Heideld will join their McLaren MP4-12C GT3 race team at this weekend’s VLN race on the Nordschelife. It’s expected this is a formality for Heidfeld to complete before joins the team for the 2012 Nürburgring 24 hour race (17–20 May).

With 185 F1 race starts behind him, including 11 races in 2011, Heidfeld will increase the profile of the N24. Of course, you’ll recall the promo laps he did at the Ring back in 2007 at the wheel of a BMW-Sauber F1.06.
