Pontiac G8 GXP at the Nurburgring Nordschleife

A Holden Commodore SS, or more correctly, a Pontiac G8 GXP has been spotted testing at the Ring. The Aussie derived saloon, sporting Victorian number plates, has set a lap time of 8 minutes 30 seconds. The time was set by a GM engineer, not a professional racing driver, and looking at a list of Nordschleife lap times can count among its peers the Audi S5 (8:24), Nissan 350Z (8:26) and Honda NSX (8:38). Not too shabby considering the car’s US$40K expected price tag.

It’s pretty cool seeing Australian registration plates circulating at the Nürburgring too. Although seeing them on a “Commodore” was not quite as surprising as seeing some Vic plates on a Camaro back in April.

    Interesting fact;

    Camaro was plated WHH-011 and the G8 WHH-016 so are there a number of other cars like these over there? No doubt.
