More snow at the Nordschleife
March 6th, 2008 Posted in Nurburgring news
After about a month of clear weather, the Nürburgring Nordschleife is again under a blanket of fresh snow. The image to the left was just captured off the Nürburgring webcam (Jules Perry version), and you can clearly see the snow falling. However, what prompted me to write this piece was stumbling across some lovely pictures on the Ringers forum taken by Sonja from Ringrooms. The images are shown below, and you can click each image for a larger version.
Now, the thing that has me puzzled is this. You can see from Sonja’s pictures, taken near the Brünnchen complex, that a driving line of sorts has been cleared on the track. You can also see on the webcam picture that there is no barrier at the track exit which would usually indicate the track is closed. Now, surely the track is not open for Touristenfahrten driving on a day like this?!
Thanks again to Sonja from from Ringrooms for the images.

Perhaps not open to tourists, but I recall Land Rover did testing of the Range Rover Sport at the ring in nasty sleet/snow conditions to tune the various 4WD programs.
