The Gemballa Racing team promised so much at this year’s Nürburgring 24 hour race. They entered the event with a McLaren MP4-12C GT3 and had the likes of former F1 driver Nick Heidfeld and Klaus Ludwig, three time Nürburgring 24 hour winner, on board.

But it all went a bit pear shaped for them really. Ludwig got tangled up while lapping a Seat and it didn’t take much to send both off the track and out of the race.

You can see a couple of videos of the crash after the break, including some onboard footage from inside the cabin of the McLaren. Outwardly, at least, it’s amazing to see how calm Ludwig appeared during and immediately after the impact.
